every summer my mom runs a girl scout day camp, where little girls play games and learn about the world and sing songs and meet new friends and make armfuls of crafty doodaddy crap.
it's a wonderful thing.
this year, the theme was "island style," so the mamma asked me to come talk about surfing and give the girlies an "on-land" lesson.
i was a little aprehensive as to how this waterless surfing endeavor would be received, but the little dumplings couldn't get enough of it! they sat in jaw-slackened enrapturement, hanging on every work and eyeing me with wide, sparkling eyes like i was the final episode of "lizzy maguire."
